WAFFEL HAUS–COORPAROO MARKETS *Closed*

WAFFEL HAUS TEAM© BUSOG! SARAP! 2010

I dragged the rest of the TRIBE to the Coorparoo Markets around lunchtime today…and guess what we discovered at the Coorparoo Markets!!!!  A “waffle on a stick” cooking group of Filipino nurses=)  You might think (for the waffle on a stick newbies) what is all the fuss about?  If you read my older post about my Adventure on Waffle Dog Making, you would be able to understand my feelings about Waffle Dogs and it also stated there, how I wish there’s a shop that serves Waffle Dogs here in Brisbane…..I say the foodie heaven answered my prayers and sent Waffel Haus…..Hallelujah!!!!

Waffel Haus stall is located across the florist stall on Level 1, and as you can see on my top picture…you’ll be greeted by their bright smiles and super friendly customer service.  They have a sample plate too for the newbies to try out the Cheeze and Hotdog waffles before buying.  Cold drinks and slushies are on sale too to team up with your waffle whether it’s the savoury or sweet kind.

Here’s the Waffel Haus Menu:

We ate the Hotdog Waffle variety (TRIBE are hotdogs fans) and the whole TRIBE love it very much.  The hotdogs and the waffle batter, tasted exactly like the ones in the Philippines….good on you, Waffel Haus for a thorough research for the right ingredients!  It shows in your end products=)

So, if you happen to be in Coorparoo Markets…on the days of Thursday to Sunday, drop by the Waffel Haus for a snack and meet this lovely group of Filipino nurses….and tell them I’ve sent you…LOL!

HOTDOG WAFFLE© BUSOG! SARAP! 2010WAFFEL HAUS HOTDOG WAFFLE

Waffle On A Stick - An elongated waffle served either plain or with savoury or sweet fillings.

Hotdog Waffle - Imagine a Dagwood Dog (Australian deep fried battered hotdog on a stick) but with waffle batter…YUM!

VERDICT:

  • Will definitely go back again=)  TRIBE loves their Hotdog Waffle….
  • I haven’t touch my Waffle Dog Maker for a very long time, and I don’t see the need  now=)

  1. Oh, I'll be there in a jiffy! I didn't see this stall last time I was there. I wish we have more Filipino f&b outlets here in the south side. The only Filipino food place I can think of is Best Friends in Sunnybank Hills.
Does Cusinera have any other suggestions of a good Filipino snack stall/cafe/restaurant?
I went into Best Friends a while ago and ask if they have any polvoron, the guy looked at me blankly and asked what a polvoron is. Gee, I dunno, are they serious or what....

  2. @Rabbit Sim~ the only place I can suggest is the one in Zillmere....type it in Busog! Sarap! search box, you'll see the post. It's really sad=( as most Filo eateries crash and burn so easily here in Brisbane. Usually Best Friends, Fortitude Valley got Polvoron on the front counter (shame on the guy (Sunnybank) who didn't know what a polvoron is..LOL!), but if you want to make your own, I got a superb post on Polvoron with wrapping technique.

  8. I go to the markets all the time and I had never seen or tasted anything like this.. this leaves the old dagwood dog for dead. I have recommended to everyone I know going to the markets to go get a waffle dog..sometimes just one is not enough they are so good. The people at the stall are really lovely and sometimes they have their kids there they are really well behaved and it is great to see they all enjoy making and selling as much as the customers enjoy buying.. I wish there was a waffle haus on every corner!

  10. @Anonymous~ Yeah, it sounds a bit strange but the sweet and savoury in one creation...blends really well together...it's a non deep fried dagwood dog (australian version). You should try it, you never know.. you might like it=)

  12. @Anonymous~ Sorry I haven't got a clue...last time I went to the Sunnybank Best Friends was when they were still in Calamvale...I heard they have moved to a new location, can't be bothered to go back as the service was bad and the products are overprice, waste of petrol=(
