During the Easter holidays, the TRIBE dropped by in Southbank to let the kids loose for a little while. We went there around 3 pm and browse for a little bit in Southbank Lifestyle Market. After that we walk past almost all the food establishments in the area, we can’t decided where to eat and realize we were back once again around the vicinity of the Market stalls. Due to sore group of feet… we just headed for Nandos but this restaurant/cafe caught our attention as it is situated in an ideal location where you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of the market while you enjoy your meal. I said to Mr. H, why don’t we give this place a try and we plonked ourselves in their alfresco section. We chose a table with big cushiony seats, but I kept on slipping….cushion was too soft for my liking and in my opinion, needs a good wash too.
I have to go to the counter to ask one of the staff if it’s okay to sit in that table with cushiony seats, she said yes and she followed me with the menu folders.
Here’s what we selected for our late afternoon meal:
This is what Mr. H chose for his meal, the steak comes with salad and chips. He finds the mushroom sauce a bit too salty and the steak nearing to well done instead of medium rare.
Cusinera’s meal, oh well! It’s edible and was too hungry to be picky. I won’t call 2 slices of tomatoes and assorted lettuce leaves to be a salad…garnish would be more appropriate, maybe by adding a salad dressing it does go under the term “salad”.
Nothing exciting about Mr. Adventurous meal, just ordinary.
The TRIBE kids ordered a Caramel Thick Shake to share….for the price of AUD$6.50, I can make a gourmet Caramel Thick Shake at home. Miss M ate all her Kids Steak Meal, as I said we were hungry and the food in this place is edible at least.
TRIBE’S FOODIE VIEW: The view from their alfresco dining area was really nice but I think the outside furniture is a bit tired looking. We waited for awhile for our orders and for the food presented to us, the meals doesn’t do justice for the price. It was expensive for meals you can do at home easily and way better. Would we go back again to this place? The answer is no, as there are better places around Southbank to choose from than what this place can offer. Totally wish that we took that several steps to Nandos instead of stopping 2 metres short.
Customer service was average, there’s no enthusiasm just general take your order and serve routine.
Tribe’s total bill for the night was AUD$83.80, consist of Rump Steak Meal, Rib Fillet Steak Meal, 2x Mushroom sauce, Aioli sauce, Kids Chicken Nuggets Meal, Kids Steak Meal, Caramel Thick shake and 2x 600ml soft drinks.
F.Y.I~ I’m not related or connected to this business, the purpose of this post is to give you a sneak peek on our TRIBE’s eating out adventure. We paid with our own TRIBE money for our foodie purchases.
