First week of June was when we celebrated Mr. H’s Birthday. Two weeks before as I was starting to prep for the Barrio Fiesta Adventure, he made quite a few “lambing” hints that he wants a small party for his birthday as his age got a “0” in the end now. Cusinera and Mr. H hardly held parties for our special days as we tend to celebrate Miss M and Mr. Adventurous birthdays in massive cook fest every year. On our two special days plus our anniversary most of the time every year we either go out or just buy a cake and cook pancit for that night. As for presents, we do that the whole year round, things we really, “Really” (that’s with capital R) like! I’m not a flower person… it dies, give me a spatula, a chef’s knife or even cupcake liners and I will really adore them. Mr. H on the other hand have a different taste….bit expensive, mind you! Michael Jordan shoes… you will see twinkle in his eyes!!!! I bet if he was offered the entire collection of Jordan shoes, he’ll trade me for the set, LOL!
As you can see, he requested an Ube Chiffon Cake and a Mango Chiffon Cake from our regular Filipina cake maker about 1/2 hour drive from our house. He was suggesting an additional Mocha Chiffon Cake, two days after we called the orders but I put a stop to that… my gosh! Do you really need three cakes to celebrate the additional “0” at the end of your age, LOL! All I can say about these cakes are they are unbelievable like the ones you eat in the Philippines and the flavours are always spot on (not too sweet), you cannot find these kind of cakes anywhere here in Brisbane and no, the Filipina cake maker didn’t give me discounted cakes or freebies to say these stuff about her cakes. If she lives an hour away, we’re still be willing to pickup the cakes…. that’s how good her cakes are!
Here’s the dishes Cusinera and Mr.H assembled/cooked for his special day…..
I have to cook Garlic Fried Rice as it teams up with Beef Pares Stew.
MOMOFUKU FRIED CHICKEN DRUMSTICKS
We had a fantastic day…..good company, good food and most of all, the TRIBE’s healthy and happy. What more can we wish for!!! To my loving Mr. H…enjoy the start of your “new 20” and hopefully we will always stay young at heart and funny:P
XOXO ~ Love & Kisses, Cusinera
WOW 2 cakes! And the handa - wish I was invited, LOL. Belated birthday wishes to your Mr. H! :)
ReplyDelete@Caroline ~ Hehehehehe, wish kapitbahay ko kayong lahat! So that I can invite you all;)
ReplyDeletegoodness gracious god of love that is quite a feast! where's the fattened calf?
ReplyDelete@Ziggy ~ If Mr. H ever know somebody that sells roasted whole calf...bet you he'll ask me to order one! He wants lechon originally but I told him if he's willing to eat lechon meat for a whole month, I will go ahead and order...as lechon here in Brisbane are around minimum weight 30kg and cost AUD$350+ each (*just thinking any part of it wasted, over my dead body!!!). Wish they sell lechon piglets here ;P
ReplyDeletewell you don't need to buy one, here - *posting my toddler to Brisbane*
ReplyDeleteby the way, she runs a lot and eats the carpet.
Hehe happy birthday to him! Three cakes is something that I might suggest lol :P
ReplyDeleteYum! Nakakaingit naman yung food.
