MINH TAN BAKERY© BUSOG! SARAP! 2012

If you live in Brisbane and haven’t tried Minh Tan Bakery’s Toasted Vietnamese Rolls, you’re missing a lot big time!  Local Asians knows that they serves the best Vietnamese Rolls (Bánh mì) in town.

Carindale Shopping Centre just recently opened up their new extension and within this extension came  a couple of new foodie delights to check out.  First on our list was Guzman Y Gomez but we were unable to visit on their opening day as there was a big stretch of people line spilling out of their shop, it was like a giant long tequila worm.  I said to Mr. H, they must have some crazy secret sauce or something for people to wait patiently in line for their turn.  It turns out, GYG was offering free burritos for their special day, that’s why!

I told Mr. H yesterday that he have to shout out the TRIBE this Friday night.  We were suppose to go to one of our usually foodie hangouts but I convinced Mr. H to try out the newly opened MOS BURGER in Sunnybank.  A couple of  Brisbane based bloggers have all but positive reviews about this place and I’m so intrigue about this place.  Accidentally we went to the opposite shopping centre, as I didn’t write down the name of the place and address.  I have to access a couple of  my fave Brisbane bloggers to get the address and it was not fun surfing on Mr. H’s iPhone….mine is resting peacefully at home gathering dust=P  I’m more of a net babe than a phone babe.

So after finding directions on Mr. H’s iPhone and our car’s Referdex book, we finally figured out that MOS BURGER is where Kmart is…..duhhhh!

Kainan sa Valley is Best Friends answer for a Filipino Takeaway joint that offers ready to eat Filipino dishes for the busy Filipinos who doesn’t have time to cook or doesn’t know how to or like the TRIBE, who wants to eat other people’s cooking for a change.  I for one love to taste other people’s cooking, I find it exciting to my taste buds.  My “Kuya” (older brother) notice that earlier when I started cooking that I have the tendency to buy takeaway food whenever I did a marathon cook off at my parents house.

This is actually the first takeaway (turo-turo style) Filipino shop I’ve ever seen here in Brisbane.  They have a great selection of Filipino dishes on offer and because it’s already on display you don’t have to wait for certain dishes to be cook like in a restaurant.  What you see is what you get=)

Little Hong Kong in Sunnybank offers BBQ dishes, congee and noodles.  Always busy most nights, the TRIBE only goes during the off peak days (Monday & Tuesday).  Our favorite table is outside, against the newsagency wall as this spot has more space for Mr. Adventurous to move around.  I swear my little boy doesn’t sit still for a minute, if he ever did, I get worried that he might be ill or picking something disgusting.  We did eat inside Little Hong Kong  twice but it’s too cramp for us, I don’t know how they manage to serve hot congee and soup without spilling it over patron’s heads.  I love the cooking shows in their LCD monitors, how I wish I could understand the language.

If you want good Vietnamese food in a hurry, this is the place for you,  PHO *HIEN VUONG* PASTEUR at Sunnybank.  The TRIBE has been eating here for a couple of years now.  When I get that feeling of “katam”-short for katamaran (laziness) to cook, I usually bribe Mr. H to drive us to Sunnybank.  This eatery never disappoints us, very quick service and good food, always.
