KAINAN SA VALLEY – FORTITUDE VALLEY

Kainan sa Valley is Best Friends answer for a Filipino Takeaway joint that offers ready to eat Filipino dishes for the busy Filipinos who doesn’t have time to cook or doesn’t know how to or like the TRIBE, who wants to eat other people’s cooking for a change.  I for one love to taste other people’s cooking, I find it exciting to my taste buds.  My “Kuya” (older brother) notice that earlier when I started cooking that I have the tendency to buy takeaway food whenever I did a marathon cook off at my parents house.

This is actually the first takeaway (turo-turo style) Filipino shop I’ve ever seen here in Brisbane.  They have a great selection of Filipino dishes on offer and because it’s already on display you don’t have to wait for certain dishes to be cook like in a restaurant.  What you see is what you get=)

Here’s what they offered the day we dropped by:

POCHERO, FISH PAKSIW, PORK ADOBO & CHICKEN ADOBO

BEEF CALDERETA, PANCIT BIHON, AMPALAYA GUISADO

PORK BINAGOONGAN, FRIED MARINATED BANGUS, LONGGANISA, LUMPIANG SHANGHAI & ADOBONG MANI

FRIED RICE, PINAKBET, DINUGUAN, BOPIS

  PORK PAKSIW & CHICKEN CALDERETA

LAING, PUSIT ADOBO, FRIED FISH PORTIONS

BANANA QUE, TURON (BANANA SPRINGROLLS)

LECHE FLAN, UBE HALAYA, CASSAVA CAKE, GINATAANG BILO-BILO, MAJA BLANCA, PALITAO, KUTSINTA, SAPIN-SAPIN, PUTO, PITSI-PITSI

ATCHARA (PAPAYA PICKLES), PANCIT PALABOK & SIOPAO

They also make upon request, Special HALO-HALO and GULAMAN.

TRIBE’S FOODIE  VIEW:  We only ordered  Bopis and Pork Paksiw to take home that day we visited.  The Pork Paksiw (Lechon Paksiw style) was good, I even replicated the dish the next day because I really like the balance of the sour and sweetness of the sauce enveloping the tender cubes of pork belly.  Bopis was another matter as it has too much Annatto Powder that when you eat a spoonful of it you will feel the grittiness of the flour present on the sauce, there’s something funky about the overall taste & colour of the dish.  From the visits we have been doing since Kainan Sa Valley opened, the food has been adequate to satisfy our cravings for a quick fix Filipino dishes.

F.Y.I~  I’m not related or connected to this business, the purpose of this post is to give you a sneak peek.  We paid with our own TRIBE money for our foodie purchases.  I’ve also asked permission from one of the owners (thanks Mrs de Chavez ) to take pictures in front of Kainan sa Valley=)

  1. Wow! That's amazing! You're so lucky you have that in QLD. I don't think there's such a thing in Sydney. It would be so nice to buy Pinakbet and Adobong Pusit take away.

My gfriend and I always eat in this eatery. Its the best Filipino eatery here in Brisbane. The foods that I like most is Pinakbet & Chicken Adobo. And for dessert, I cannot resist halo-halo and Turon. I recommend this to anyone who hasnt tasted the filipino dish yet..

  6. In Sydney, there you'll find 'turo-turo' style eateries and few resto/karaoke near the train stations of Mt. Druitt, Blacktown and 1 in Lidcombe. ^_^

Thank you cusinera for posting. Best Friends Kainan sa Valley is now accepting catering service. Also, you can order one whole lechon for your special occasion.

Hi. I personally don't like the food there, but it is a matter of personal taste. The price is also a bit steep for what you get. For lechon, I can recommend the couple in Browns Plains. Sorry don't know their names, but they sell "tingi" lechon through Eagle Asian Grocery in Mitchelton every 1st Saturday of the week.
