MOS BURGER – SUNNYBANK

MOS BURGER, SUNNYBANK PIC1© BUSOG! SARAP! 2011

I told Mr. H yesterday that he have to shout out the TRIBE this Friday night.  We were suppose to go to one of our usually foodie hangouts but I convinced Mr. H to try out the newly opened MOS BURGER in Sunnybank.  A couple of  Brisbane based bloggers have all but positive reviews about this place and I’m so intrigue about this place.  Accidentally we went to the opposite shopping centre, as I didn’t write down the name of the place and address.  I have to access a couple of  my fave Brisbane bloggers to get the address and it was not fun surfing on Mr. H’s iPhone….mine is resting peacefully at home gathering dust=P  I’m more of a net babe than a phone babe.

So after finding directions on Mr. H’s iPhone and our car’s Referdex book, we finally figured out that MOS BURGER is where Kmart is…..duhhhh!

When we arrive, there’s a fair amount of people waiting in line outside the shop.  We arrive around 6:45pm and we were about 10th to the last group to be served.  The counter guy took our order around 7pm (you pay as you order) and as we we were standing to get an empty table, I saw their trial opening and closing hours signage against the wall .  The signage indicated that they close at 7pm but they were still kind enough to let a couple of people in past that time.  About 5 minutes of standing a friendly female staff lead us inside to an empty table.

So, here’s our view from our table, as you can see you can view the cooking staff as they prepare your meals.  I like the set up, clean and minimalist.  Mr. H notice the songs being played are relaxing and in the 80’s smooth sound period, which was actually nice…not too loud, fast or irritating…just right.

Okay…so we waited…..and waited, I whispered to Mr. H that I’ve noticed that most of the people who were waiting before us in line has been served before us and the cooking staff was already packing up.  Alarm bells was ringing inside my head, I told myself to breath in…a bit irritated, as I’m trying to figure out how can they forget our list…8 burgers and two large fries.  As a female staff walk past, she notice us…maybe from our faces or the number order that was standing  on our table.  We told her the problem…. I felt like just walking out actually as I was really really hungry and Mr. Adventurous was already acting up the whole time we were waiting in our table.

You should see their shock faces as the staff were discussing about the whole thing….and we were not the only ones….No.13 was missed too.  So, No.13 and No.18 (TRIBE)was the only people eating at around 7:45-8:00pm.

They were so apologetic about the whole situation and Mr. H asked what went wrong.  The staff told him that the two dockets were not delivered to the cooking area.  A male staff went personally to our table and apoligise for the mistake.  I never heard “sorry” used so much in just a couple of sentences.  He offered free drinks and soups if we like but we told them that we are fine.

As we waited for our order, another male staff arrived to our table and laid down 4 cups of soups for us to try out (2x minestrone and 2x mushroom soup).  We were surprise for the kind gesture and he then apologise once again for the mistake on our orders.  They were so nice that I felt guilt for feeling irritated the first time I found out they forgot about our order.  The soups was fantastic and flavourful!  The TRIBE will definitely order the soups when we visit MOS BURGER again.

There’s no picture of their signature MOS Burger as I wolfed it down so fast there was no time to take a picture of it (I told you I was hungry!).  I love the sweet meat sauce added to it and I’ve also notice that their burger buns are not that sweet (definitely like!) compare to McDonalds or Hungry Jacks.

MOS BURGER1Clockwise from the left: MOS Pork Ginger  Rice Burger, MOS French Fries, MOS Yahiniku (Beef) Rice Burger and MOS Seafood Kakiage Rice Burger.

MOS Rice Burgers are tasty and filling….and not at all too greasy.  I love the texture of the sticky rice buns, it’s quite good with a few sips of the soups while you’re eating it.  I know am weird but do try it next time you’re at MOS BURGER….the combination blends well together.

Mr. H particularly liked the soups that I have to ask if we can order takeaway when it was time for us to go home but they gave us a cup of each of the Minestrone and Mushroom soups free of charge…I offered to pay but the female staff told me the tills are already close and it was fine for us to take it.  She also advises us that more variations on the menu will be added tomorrow as the trial menu has ended tonight and once again apologised for what happened in regards to our order.

And if you’re thinking if we ate all the 8 burgers…LOL!  The answer is definitely no, we only ate about 3 burgers and went home with the rest.

TRIBE’S FOODIE  VIEW:  I would trade in McDonald's and Hungry Jacks with MOS Burger anytime.  I love the thick slices of tomatoes and crispy lettuce inside the burgers, it adds extra freshness to it compare to those wilted kinds the two big burger joints offers.  The French Fries was average but the soups surprisingly came up winners in our TRIBE’s book.  I love the Asian twist to MOS Burgers and the whole TRIBE totally agree with my foodie view.

There was a big hiccup with our order but all is good as I am clearly impress on how the whole staff dealt with it.  It was a long and busy day for them and they still manage to be smiling, helpful and friendly until they closed their shop tonight which I greatly admire.  Would we go back again, of course we will….we don’t mind the conga line outside=)  We will go back to try out more of their menu list and looking forward to be served once again by the friendly and super nice staff of MOS BURGER.

Tribe’s total bill for the night was AUD$45.80, that’s compose of MOS Burger, Wagyu Beef Burger, Wagyu Beef Cheese Burger, Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Yakiniku (Beef) Rice Burger, Seafood Kakiage Rice Burger, Pork Ginger Rice Burger, 2x large French Fries, 2x large & 1 regular softdrinks.

F.Y.I~  I’m not related or connected to this business, the purpose of this post is to give you a sneak peek on our TRIBE’s eating out adventure.  We paid with our own TRIBE money for our foodie purchases.  They offered the soups for free as a kind good gesture, the TRIBE didn’t ask any compensation for our delayed order.
